Michael James Hart

Michael James Hart, 77, of Pendleton, passed away at his home on March 29, 2021.He was born September 10, 1943 in Elizabeth City County, Virginia and was an Anderson resident for most of his life until moving to Pendleton in the 1990’s.Mike retired as a Firefighter from the Anderson Fire Department in 1986 following 20 years of service. He was a longtime business partner with his brother, Ron in Hart Auto Sales, Anderson from 1985 to 1995 and Hart and Hart properties for 55 years.Mike was a member of the Firedogs Band. He was a 1961 graduate of Anderson Highland High School. Mike served as Fall Creek Township Trustee from January 2000 to January 2008. Mike served on the Fall Creek Township Advisory Board as well as the Pendleton Tree Committee.Survivors include his beloved wife, Susan Markle; brother, Ronald (Pam) Hart of Pendleton; sons, Craig (Lisa) Hart of Punta Gorda, Florida and Cary (Clare) Hart of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; daughter, Jennifer (Jesse) Cole of Anderson; step-daughter, Heather Harris of Anderson; eight grandchildren, Ashley (Mike) McArdle, Ivan (Christa) Cole, Nicholas Hart, Dillon Hart, Jacob Hart, Megan Hart, Cameron Harris and Bella Harris; three great grandchildren, Ryder Cole, Rowan Cole and Ivan Cole; several nieces and several nephews; special friend and caregiver, Derrinda (Jason) Keller and family; caregiver, Gloria Carpenter; his Firedog buddies, Donnie Rodeman, Shawn Dietzen and Mark Keck; and special canine friend, Freddy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold James and Delores Eileen (Crull) Hart; and siblings, Doug Hart, Gary Hart and Beverly Wilson.Special thanks to Dr. David Mares and the staff of Southern Care Hospice.Services will be at 2 p.m., Friday, April 2, 2021 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 310 E. 53rd St., Anderson, Indiana 46013 with Pastor Matt Manning officiating and will include Anderson Fire Department honors. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Ovid.Visitation from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Friday, April 2, 2021 at the church.Arrangements entrusted to Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, Lahm Chapel, 211 E.
