Michael Godleski

April 11, 1932 — June 13, 2023

Michael “Mike” Godleski, 91, of Anderson, IN, passed away on June 13, 2023, after a lengthy battle with heart disease. He was born to the late Bartley Godleski and Helen (Soloski) Godleski Haberek in Scranton, Pennsylvania. After graduating from the Johnson Trade School, Mike proudly joined the U.S. Navy on June 20, 1951, until June 13, 1955, serving his country as a machinery repairman. After his honorable discharge, he moved to Anderson and worked in various job shops before beginning a 29-year career in skilled trades at Delco Remy. Through mutual friends, he met the love of his life, Martha Bell. They married on October 9, 1965, and then raised their children in Pendleton.

Mike was an active member of the Trinity Episcopal Church of Anderson for many years, where he served as the senior and junior warden and coached women’s softball. Well into his retirement, he could be found grilling K-burgers with the Pendleton Kiwanis while also serving as their treasurer. Throughout his life, Mike was an avid fisherman, passionate baseball fan, and skilled woodworker. He would never refuse a card game.

Mike is survived by his wife, Martha (Bell) Godleski; daughter, Nancy M. Godleski; sister-in-law, Nicki Yost; nieces, Christine Godleski-Beason and Cheryl Godleski.

Mike is preceded in death by his parents; sons, Michael Godleski and David Godleski; brothers, Joseph (Joyce) Godleski and Jimmie (Nicki Yost) Haberek; sister, Barbara (Gene) Reynolds; and canine companion, Ebony.
