Michael Francis Carroll

May 11, 1943 — August 2, 2024

Noblesville

Michael Francis Carroll, 81, of Noblesville, passed away on Friday, August 2, 2024, at Five Star Residences of Noblesville following an extended illness.

He was born on May 11, 1943, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Robert and Elvira (Beumer) Carroll. He was a graduate of Roger Bacon High School and the University of Cincinnati.

The highlight of his career was working for Kenner Toys, where he was the Director of Packaging. He designed the packaging for the Star Wars toy line and many other icons like the Easy Bake Oven, Spirograph, Play-Doh, and Baby Alive. He and his wife, Carol, loved to travel and made friends wherever they went. He had a love of photography, a hobby that he passed down to two of his grandsons. To him, boating was “The Answer,” and he believed the boat wouldn’t start if there weren’t an open beer onboard. In retirement, he found joy in model railroading, an interest certainly instilled by his father, Robert, who worked for the Pennsylvania railroad.

Michael is survived by his son, Brian (wife, Barbara) Carroll; daughter, Shannon (husband, Mike) Ulrich; six grandchildren, Andy Carroll, Sam Carroll, Amber (husband, Mike) Pennington, Alex (wife, Alexa) Ulrich, Mason Ulrich, and Gavin Ulrich; siblings David Carroll, Steven (wife, Betty) Carroll, Julia Trauth, and Melissa (husband, Kevin) Must; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews who loved to pick out a new toy from Uncle Mike’s toy box when they visited.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Carol (Rhykghem) Carroll; his parents; brother, Daniel Carroll; brother-in-law, John Trauth; and sister-in-law, Connie Carroll.

His life will be celebrated on Monday, August 19, 2024, at St. Ignatius of Loyola at 5222 N. Bend Road, Cincinnati, OH 45247. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Immediately following Mass, a gathering for family and friends will be held at Tyme Out at 8377 Colerain Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45239. Anyone can join the family for a graveside service at New St. Joseph Cemetery at 4500 Foley Road, Cincinnati, OH 45238, at 3:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America at www.alzfdn.org.
