Michael “Mike” Burke Gentry, 69, of Anderson, Indiana, passed away peacefully and comfortably with loved ones by his side in Anderson on December 10, 2021. Mike’s journey to be with the Lord was ceremoniously preceded by a neighborhood dinner bell ring and a double shotgun salute on his property. Mike was born October 7, 1952, in Anderson, Indiana. Mike’s legacy is a beloved father, friend, and colleague, known for his generosity, charm, and wit. Mike is also remembered for loving those around him for exactly who they are. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, celebrating any occasion, traveling and golfing across the country, and bird watching from his front porch. Mike attended College Corner Elementary School before heading to Highland High School, where he played varsity golf and basketball. After graduating from Highland in 1970, he studied at Ball State University, earning his undergraduate degree in Architecture and was a proud member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. After college, Mike was known statewide for designing and building custom cabinets, putting personal touches on every project completed over 55 years. Mike will be buried alongside family at Maplewood Cemetery in Anderson. Information regarding a Celebration of Life for Mike will be shared at a later date.
