Merritt E. Forrer

Merritt E. "Toot" Forrer, 82, Lapel, passed away Thursday, September 27, 2018, at his home following an extended illness.
He was born on February 13, 1936, in Lapel to Harold N. and Elaine F. (Edwards) Forrer.
Toot was graduated from Lapel High School in 1955 and he was a veteran of the U. S. Army.
He retired in 1994 from the former Guide Lamp division of General Motors in Anderson and had formerly worked for the town of Lapel.
Toot was a member of the Lapel American Legion Post 212. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.
He is survived by three daughters, Cindy Stevens (Allison Wise), Beth James, and Cara (husband, Frank) Russell; six granddaughters, Shawna (Jim) Beemer, Sara Russell (fiance, Brandon Clem), Nikki Heck (Misty Fippen), Mary (Josh) Mullins, Kelcie (Danny) Kleckner, and Katie James (Jordan Maxey); seven great-grandchildren, Morgan, Tyler, Lucas, Callie, Eli, Harrison, and Quinn; one brother, Larry "Butch" Forrer; four sisters, Shirley (Tony) Buffone, Carolyn Wix, Joan (Eddie) Fisher, Rita Williams.
Toot was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 49 years, Janet (Haskell); a great-granddaughter, Ally; a brother, Donald Forrer; and a sister, Brenda Welch;.
At Toots request, there will be no visitation or funeral service.
