Mercedes J. Holt-Garber, 42, of Pendleton passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at Indiana University North Hospital in Carmel. Mercedes was born on May 3, 1982 to Dave Holt Jr. and mother Stephanie Burmeister.
Mercedes attended Liberty Christian School from 1986 to 1996. Then Anderson High School class of 2000.
Mercedes favorite sport was playing volleyball for most of her school years then continued playing volleyball with the CCA Sports league with her husband, Theo. She built many relationships with friends whom she loved very much. She loved Pinterest and planning parties and get-togethers. Her favorite thing was to make people happy and feel loved. She was a very inspiring person, her energy and smile lit up every room and person she encountered. She lived her life always wanting to make as many memories as possible.
Her and Theo had recently started an AIRbnb business where Mercedes was phenomenal at decorating and planning the experience for her guest visits. Mercedes thrived in everything she did, receiving the AIRBNB Super Host award time and time again.
Mercedes was a caring, loving mother to her two boys. She would do anything for them both and always showed unconditional love and support. She raised them both showing her protective mother instinct. She Always said she never wanted either one of them to have to experience the difficulties of what life puts us up against, while guiding them to become the best version of themselves.
Mercedes was a loyal and valued employee of Inspire Brands working for Arby’s for 26 years. The impact she made to the business and to the lives she touched over those 26 years could never be fully captured in a few paragraphs.
Anyone who worked with Mercedes would tell you that she truly embodied the values of “have fun” / “get it done”. In fact, she was a connoisseur of fun. Her smile and her energy lit up the room. She worked hard and played hard, and co-workers could always count on her to choose the best restaurants and have the best suggestions for fun team building activities. Mercedes was always the thoughtful one who remembered milestone events and celebrated every win. She always did kind gestures like ordering celebration cakes and writing notes of appreciation and sharing words of comfort in dark times. She was also the historian, photographer, and videographer. She had an eye for special moments and made sure nothing was forgotten.
Make no mistake that Mercedes was also fierce and strove for excellence in all that she did. She was an astute business woman, mentor, and leader. She was the most prepared and most organized in the room. Mercedes is irreplaceable and her unique sparkle can never be replicated. While everyone she worked with is devastated to lose her sparkle, they are so grateful to have shared in her light and are better for it. They will do their best to make sure that Mercedes’ spirit lives on by becoming all the things they loved most about her.
Family, friends and co-workers of Mercedes will live on asking themselves… “What would Mercedes do”…WWMD.
She is survived by her loving husband, Theo Garber; two sons, Brock Rose and Bronsin Buck; one brother, Artez Holt; one grandmother Faith Burmeister; one nephew, Nevin Burmeister.
