Melvin “Mel” Ray Lewis, 64, of Anderson, IN passed away on August 17, 2022 after an unexpected illness. Mel was born on October 19, 1957 in Elwood, IN to the late Thomas Lewis and Alice Riddle. Mel was a farmer in Anderson and had been for over 30 years. Mel enjoyed spending Saturday nights down at the Knightstown Sale Barn. He loved animals, especially his farm animals. Mel loved being outside and spending time at auctions. Mel loved John Wayne movies and introducing his special niece, Alivia, to them. Most importantly, Mel loved spending time with his family and friends.
Mel will be dearly missed by his wife of 31 years, Tammy Huff; step-son, Joey Huff; granddaughter, Kaylan Huff; special sister, Monica Miller; sister, Linda (Robert) Jewell; special nieces, Alivia Lewis, Mylee Hopkins, Veronica Conner, and Jessica Williams; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Lonnie Ray Lewis; and sister, Theresa Bynum.
The visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m., on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory, 515 E. 53rd St., Anderson, 46013. Cremation rites will be accorded after.
