Melvin D. Miller, 82, Anderson, passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2017, at Bethany Pointe Health Campus after a several month illness. He was born July 5, 1934, in Nortonville, Kentucky, the son of the late Lloyd & Oshie Miller. He lived most of his life in Anderson and retired in 1999 from Guide Lamp after 27 years. He was a member of South Meridian Church of God and later Madison Park Church of God. Melvin was greatly loved by his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. The most important thing to him was the way he was raised and the way he raised his family, loving the Lord. He enjoyed playing golf, camping and wintering in Florida. The family would like to thank the staff at Bethany Pointe and St. Vincent Hospice for their all loving care and concerns. Melvin is survived by his wife of 63 years, JoAnn Miller of Anderson; two daughters and a daughter in-law, Dena (Russ) Willis, Darla (Donnie) Carle and Ginger Miller all of Anderson; seven grandchildren, Michelle (Eddy) Houk, Misty (Matt) Summers, Kelly Willis all of Anderson, Christopher (Abbie) Teague of Port Orange, FL, Marcus (Bre) Miller of Daleville, Kyle (Danielle) Teague of Tampa, Florida, Brandon (Katy) Miller of Bloomington and ten great grandchildren; two brothers, Pert Miller of Anderson, Nick Miller of Toledo, Ohio and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Mike Miller and eight siblings. A private family service will be conducted at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home with Pastor Ken Mishler officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson Disease Foundation or P.S.P. in memory of his son Mike.
