Melva Ruth Tegge

Melva Ruth Tegge- Age 76 passed away June 25, 2020.She was born July 4, 1943 in Anderson Indiana and Graduated from Anderson High School in 1961. Melva was a former member Jr. Girl Scout, an officer in Mother’s Club, a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority of Anderson and Psi Iota Xi of Middletown. She worked at Anderson Banking Company, and retired in 2010 as Secretary of Shenandoah Middle School after 23 years. She loved having family Sunday dinners and being outside in her gardens. Two of her favorite garden spaces were featured in a national magazine “Romantic Homes and Gardens”. Melva is survived by her loving husband of 58 wonderful years, Larry Tegge, he was the love of her life and high school sweetheart. Also left to cherish her memory are her daughters; Julie (Randy) Pursley, Jill (Todd) Harman and Jennifer (Sean) Whitmoyer. Grandchildren; Sydnee Kirby, Chole Harman, Sharaden Kirby, and Ryder Pursley. Sisters; Judy (late George) Carter, Sarah (Bill) Madren, Nora (Chuck) Shaffer and twin big brother Melvin (BJ) Sylvester. Many nieces and nephews, great friends Cathy Dunn and Judy Biehl, her euchre club girls, and her four-legged buddies Charlie and Simon. She is preceded in death by her parents Minola and Chick Sylvester. We would like to thank Dr. Reddy and the staff at the Anderson Cancer Center for their great care of our mother and grandmother. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday at 2:00 pm in the chapel at East Maplewood Cemetery, Anderson for close family and friends. She is to be buried at East Maplewood Cemetery. Contributions may be made in her name to the Animal Protection League or St. Jude Children’s hospital for Cancer research.
