Melva J. Hovermale

Melva J. Hovermale, 94, Anderson, passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2015. She was born October 6, 1920 in Dupont, Indiana to the late Roy & Ursula (Anderson) Hough.

She graduated from Anderson High School in 1937 and then from Ball State. Melva was a school teacher with Anderson Public Schools, finishing her career at North Anderson Elementary. She was a member of St. Matthew United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her sons, Carl Gene Hovermale & Richard Hovermale; daughters-in-law, Melanie Starr Hovermale & Edla Tossavainen Hovermale; grandchildren, Melinda Hovermale, Erika (Chris) Baker, Robert (Angie) Hovermale, Jennifer Herring, and Christopher (Shelley) Hovermale; 11 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Dee Hovermale.

Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory, conducted by Pastor Jake Fisher. Burial will be at East Maplewood Cemetery in Anderson. Visitation will be from Noon until time of services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Matthew United Methodist Church in Anderson or to the donor’s charity of choice.
