Melinda Marie Owens

Melinda Marie Owens, 55, of Daleville, IN passed away after a brief illness on January 9, 2022. Melinda was born on May 18, 1966 in Anderson, IN to Michael S. and Margaret E. (Jackson) Brow. Melinda married the love of her life, Kenneth Owens, on October 18, 1986 at St. Mary’s Church in Anderson, IN. Melinda graduated from Highland High School in 1984 and she was the last person to dance on the drum at Highland. She was a Majorette, flag twirler, sword, and baton twirler during her time at Highland and she took such pride in that. After high school, Melinda worked a number of jobs, but her most recent was an Operation Manager at Pendleton Avenue Storage. She found her spiritual home at St. Mary’s Catholic Church and was a faithful member for many years. She loved gardening, antiquing, traveling, and quilting. Melinda loved life and made an impact on everyone she came in contact with. Most importantly, she loved being a Mimi and her family was her primary focus. Melinda will be dearly missed by her mother, Margaret Brow; her husband, Kenny Owens; her son, Justin (Alissa) Owens; her grandchildren, Vivian, Evelyn, Samuel, and Ezekiel; her sister, Mary (Chad) Darley; her brothers-in-law, Ronnie (Colleen) Owens and Jonathan Owens; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Michael Brow; her maternal grandparents, Robert and Dorothy Jackson; her paternal grandparents, Ernie and Madonna Brow; her father and mother-in-law, Roger and Shirley Owens; and her sisters-in-law, Cheryl Lackey and Lisa Easterling. The visitation will be from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. on Friday, January 14, 2022 at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory, 515 E. 53rd St., Anderson, IN 46013. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in East Maplewood Cemetery. Per the family’s request, face masks and social distancing will be required.
