Mayola “Corky” Mitchell, 90, of Anderson went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on October 8, 2019. She was born on November 26, 1928 in Sebetha, Kansas, the daughter of Omer and Alma Porter. Corky was the most amazing mom, wife, sister, aunt and friend but most of all she was a devoted and faithful follower of Jesus. Since becoming a Christian in 1958, she loved and served Jesus with each day that He gave her. She was a beautiful example of unconditional love, generosity and grace. She lived out her faith in every aspect of her life. She loved deeply and was a prayer warrior. Corky spent her life as a homemaker, taking care of her family and serving with her husband in ministry. She also was a school bus driver for 20 years for Indiana Christian Academy and Anderson Community Schools. She loved to cook, read her Bible and enjoyed her family. She is survived by three daughters, Jennifer (Christopher) Eviston, Jody (Glenn) Czarnecki, Judy (Michael) Holder and one son, Rick (Kathy) Ford; 10 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Corky was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Mitchell; son, Mike Rhodes; sisters, Marge Harvey and Viola Schaeffer; brothers, Woodrow Porter, Willard Porter and Mitchell Porter. A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 14, 2019, at the Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory with Pastor Paul Strozier officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, October 13, 2019, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
