Mayme L. Ballentine, 92, lifelong resident of Anderson, passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at St. Vincent’s Anderson Regional Hospital. She was born August 17, 1924, in Anderson to the late John & Marie (Huhn) Fortwengler. She graduated from St. Mary’s school before working at Delco Remy. She then became a homemaker. She is survived by her sons, James Ballentine of Muncie, Michael Ballentine of Anderson, Richard (Johnnie Sue) Ballentine of Anderson; daughter-in-law, Willa Ballentine; sister, Darlene Simmons; sister-in-law, Patty Shaffer; 10 grandchildren; numerous great & great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and friend of the family, Mary Ann Thomas. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, John W. Ballentine; son, Paul Ballentine; daughter-in-law, Carol Ballentine; brothers, Bernard, John, & James Fortwengler; sisters, Anna Fithian, Louise Hiday, and Mary Carpenter. Services will be at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, September 6, at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory, with Father Daniel Shine officiating. Burial will be at Anderson Memorial Park. Visitation will be from Noon until time of the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be sent to the American Heart Association.
