Maxine Conner

June 23, 1918 — October 16, 2014

Maxine (Gritton) Conner, 96, of Anderson, passed away October 16, 2014 at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital after a brief illness.

She was born June 23, 1918 in Richland Township, the daughter of Cecil and Addie (Noble) Gritton. She lived in Madison County all of her life and graduated from Anderson High School in 1936.

Maxine worked for Guide Lamp Division of General Motors for 45 years.

She is survived by her two sons, Larry Conner of Anderson and Michael (Karen) Conner of San Francisco, CA; her daughter-in-law, Sharon Conner of Anderson; twin brother, Eugene Gritton of Muncie; five grandchildren, Cindy (Lauren) MacMillan of Pendleton, Lori (Layton) Gilroy of Hinesville, GA; Emily Pyland of Anderson, Kate Conner and Claire Conner both of San Francisco, CA; eight great grandchildren, Austin, Jessica, Evan and Chloe MacMillan, Clayton and Brandon Gilroy, Elijah and Wyatt Pyland; and several nieces and nephews.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Addie (Noble) Gritton; her son, Rory Conner; and her siblings, Lloyd Gritton, Deva Adams-Clevenger, and Ruth Honnold.

Visitation will be 12:00-2:00 p.m. on Monday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory.

Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. Monday at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Glenn Skinner officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Alzheimers Association.
