Maurine was a compassionate mother and friend to all. Family and friends were all treated to her love of baking and crocheting. Maurine was a trained beautician until leaving the profession to take a position with General Motors retiring in 1978.

She is survived by a sister, Mary Ann Scherer Shirley; son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Armetta Cook of Anderson; daughter, Sandy (Larry) Keller of Anderson; grandchildren, Angel Thomas, Chris Cook, Derek Hobbs, Leslie Stark, Lori Lord and Brandy Cook; great grandchildren, Justin Hobbs, Jordan Hobbs, Britney Hobbs, Sydney Sorrell, Sawyer Sorrell, Ara Cook, Kelton Cook, Brandon Bell, Ross Lord, Lili Hobbs, Kyuss Gargett and Legion Gargett; four great great grandchildren, Jera, Klohi, Nolan and Isiah. Maurine loved being grandma and granny to all of them. She also treasured her neighbors, Max and Janet Hunt, who looked after her when family was not around.
