It is with great sadness that the family of Maurice David “Pete” Kemerly announce his passing after a brief illness on Thursday, September 10, 2020 at the age of 76. Pete began his working career at the ripe age of 14 at Evart Engineering Company, Inc. He then purchased the business and owned and operated Evart for 62 years. Pete enjoyed many hobbies with his family and friends including, coon hunting, coaching baseball, playing cards, racing greyhounds and riding horses. He was a 50 year member of the Mechanicsburg Masonic Lodge; Scottish Rite, Shriners, Eastern Star, Lions Club, and Sulphur Springs Christian Church. Pete will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 56 years, 350 days, Carol (Hart) Kemerly; children, Brian (Jaylynne) Kemerly, Kandi Kemerly, Brett (Kathy) Kemerly, and Brent (Lisa) Kemerly. Pete will also be fondly remembered by his ten grandkids; Casey (Laura), Brandy (Mike), Lacey (Lou), Michaela, Mariah, Rachelle (Dustin), Nick, Evan, Emma, Luke; his seven great grandchildren; Colton, Lainey, Levi, Kaycee, Paisley, Xavier, and Casslyn; sisters, Jeanne (Doc) Dickerson, Rita (Marvin) Fleming, Loretta (Dan) Inman and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Edna Kemerly; sister, Janet Kemerly; in-laws, Wayne and Lillian Hart. Services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 am at Condo & St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, 130 S. Main St., Wilkinson, Indiana with Rev. C.J. Buskirk officiating. Burial will be at McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson. There will be a Masonic Service at the beginning of the service. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
