Matthew Kyle Owens

Matthew Kyle Owens, 24, Lapel, passed away Sunday, July 13, 2008, at his residence following a sudden illness.
He was born on March 27, 1984, in Anderson, Indiana to Robert and Cindy (Hamel) Owens.
He graduated from Lapel High School in 2002.
Matt was employed by King Systems in Noblesville for the last three years.
He was on the varsity baseball team while in school and continued playing for several teams after graduation. He had coached Babe Ruth baseball for Lapel. He also enjoyed playing various video games during his free time.
He is survived by his parents, Cindy L. (Hamel) Glover of Lapel; his father, Robert R. Owens of Anderson; three brothers, Joshua (wife, Kandice) Hamel of Anderson, Robert Owens of Anderson, and Ross Glover of Lapel; one sister, Tiffany (Owens) (husband, Brent) McNeely of Anderson; his maternal grandmother, Patsy (husband, Conrad) Cash of Anderson; two aunts, Patti (husband, Dan) Brinker of Anderson, and Marilyn (husband, Roy) Ogburn of Anderson; a special cousin, Drew Brinker of Anderson; close friends of the family, Debbie (husband, Kent) Ogburn of Anderson; four nieces; and one nephew.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Clendis B. Hamel, his paternal grandmother, Bertha Turner; and a sister, Kristy Owens.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Friday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev. Neal Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel.
