Mary M. Hosier

ANDERSON-Mary M. Hosier, 83, of Anderson, passed away June 17, 2018 at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital. She was born September 14, 1934, in Urbana, IL, the daughter of Edward and Martha (Okerson) Kauffman. She was a member of Anderson High School Class of 1952 and graduated from the Anderson College of Nursing. She worked as an R.N. at St. John’s Hospital, Anderson. On September 29, 1956 Mary married Kenneth Hosier, and he preceded her in death on March 5, 2014 in Sebring, FL where they had settled after retirement. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, reading, movies and hummingbirds. Mary is survived by her children, Debby (Mike) Leitem, Judi (Joe) Pierry, Nancy (Pat) Chomyn, Gary (Jean) Hosier and Jane (Ray) Lyons; grandchildren. Annie Saylor; Paul and Eric Leitem, Jessica, Joey (Alyssa) and Jimmie Pierry; Nate and Ally Chomyn, Tyler, Lexi, Amber and David Hosier, Wes and Matt Doty and Anthony (Stacie) and Michael Lyons; great-grandchildren, Ellie and Warren Saylor, Zayne Edelman, Jocelyn Doty and Trysten and Kaylee Lyons; brother, Bob (Grace) Kauffman; sister, Joan Baker; and sister-in-law, Belva Pritchett. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Hosier; granddaughter, Kelli Leitem; two sisters and two brothers. The family would like to offer special thanks to the staffs at Vermillion Place, Miller’s Merry Manor in Chesterfield, St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital and St. Vincent Hospice for all their love and care. Visitation will be held 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory followed by a Memorial Service at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Mike Weber officiating. Cremation will follow with inurnment at East Maplewood Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent Anderson – Home Health and Hospice.
