Mary L. Behrens, 91, Anderson, passed away Wednesday, October 19, 2011, at her home.
She was born on November 30, 1919, in Anderson, Indiana to Theodore and Minnie (Gale) Cook.
She graduated from Anderson High School in 1938.
Mary had operated Behrens Happy Hens with her husband and sold eggs to local grocerys for many years. She was well known for the cakes and pies she baked.
She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Anderson.
She is survived by her daughter, Jean (husband, Morris) Hersberger of Lapel; five grandchildren, Katherine Heflin of Fondulac, WI, Scott (wife, Tammy) Hersberger of Lapel, Lori (husband, Gil) Andrada of Glastonbury, CT, Amy (husband, Terry) Jones of Lapel, and Kim Boone of Elkmont, AL; twelve great-grandchildren; one brother, John (wife, Ruth Ellen) Cook of Anderson; and a nephew Fritz and his wife, Ardyce Behrens of Anderson who helped give her care.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter Behrens; her son, Larry Behrens; two grandsons, Mark and Jeff Hersberger; and a great-granddaughter.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, October 22, 2011, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Pastor Art Jaggard officiating. Burial will follow in East Maplewood Cemetery, Anderson.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Friday, October 21, 2011, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel.
