Mary L. James passed away peacefully on April 13, 2020 at the age of 94. Mary was born in Lawrence County, Indiana on September 05, 1925 to Daniel and Bertha Lyons and was one of eight siblings. She moved to Anderson in 1942, where she attended Anderson High School. Mary was married to the love of her life, Bill James, for 75 years whom she met at the local roller skating rink. Mary worked for 30 years at Guide Lamp and retired in 1985. She was a former member of the Edgewood Country Club and a longtime member of Bethany Christian Church. Mary loved her flowers and looked forward to Spring every year. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, doing ceramics and various other hobbies. Mary is survived by her daughter, Penny (Jerry) Shine; her son, Michael (Linda) James; 4 grandchildren; Julie (Jeff) Augustinovicz, Lauren James, Rachel (Dan) Wheat ,Niles James; and 6 great-grandchildren; Braydon, Gavin, Carson and Keenan Augustinovicz and Madison and Morgan Moore. She was preceded in death by her husband William (Bill) James, parents Daniel and Bertha; siblings Vaney, Ruth, Helen, Francis, John, Fred and Gene and grandson Jeffrey Moore. Out of respect for personal and public safety, due to the current COVID-19 virus, only a small private family service will take place at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory and Anderson Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethany Christian Church. A special thank you to Primrose Memory Care staff who took such good care of our parents this last year.
