Mary Jo Stohler

Mary Jo Stohler, 85, of Pendleton and former longtime resident and prominent member of the Markleville community passed away October 29, 2018.She was born June 18, 1933 in Estancia, New Mexico and was a Markleville and Pendleton resident most of her life. She and Herb lived in Sebring, Florida from 1990 to 1998 and in Southern California for two years during Herb’s military service.She operated an upholstery shop from her home for many years.She was a 1951 graduate of Markleville High School and was a member of Markleville North Christian Church. Mary Jo enjoyed monthly get togethers with her classmates. She and her late husband enjoyed golfing and traveling throughout the United States. She was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence Philbert; mother, Nina (Taylor) Philbert; mother, Druscilla Philbert; husband, Herbert W. “Herb” Stohler whom she married December 21, 1951; son, Kevin Stohler; sister, Sammie Moore; and brother-in-law, Harold Moore.Survivors include her children, Warren (Debbie) Stohler of Martinsville, Michael Joe (Yvette) Stohler of Pendleton, JoDene (John) Wingate of Pendleton, daughter-in-law, Sherri Jo Stohler of Pendleton; brother, Richard (Nancy) Philbert of California; close family friends, Sheri Stohler Bennett and MaryAnne Stohler; 12 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; a great great grandson; many nieces and nephews.Services at 12 p.m., Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, Lahm Chapel, 211 E. State St., Pendleton, Indiana 46064 with Chris Hailey officiating. Burial will follow in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, November 5, 2018 and from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at Lahm Chapel, Pendleton.
