Mary Jeanette 'Jay' Alderman

Mary Jeanette "Jay" Alderman of Indianapolis, Indiana and Naples, Florida passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 2, 2020.
She was born on August 4, 1949 to Edwin and Lamoine (Holland) Henderson, and lived an incredibly full 70 years.
Jay was a teacher, friend, wife, mother, and was the heart of her family. If you needed anything from an etiquette question to life advice, or if you just needed someone to listen, Jay was always there. Every person that came in contact with Jay throughout her life fell in love with her kind heart, and she easily accepted them as her friends and family. Jay was full of life and compassion. She had a way about her that made all feel comfortable. She was fiercely loyal, and her love knew no boundaries.
Jay will be lovingly remembered by her husband and love of her life, Gary Alderman; children, Lindsey (Kevin) Kirtley and Travis (Jordan) Alderman; grandchildren, Becca (Ian) Burton, Matthew (Felicia) Burton, Rayel, Ava, and Easton Kirtley, and soon to arrive Tucker Alderman; great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Burton; sister, Madeline Newsom; brother, Chris Henderson; nieces and nephews; grand-dogs Grissom, Harold, and Edwin Kirtley, and Piper Alderman; and countless friends.
Jay will be greatly missed, and celebrations of life will be held in her honor in the near future in both Indianapolis and Naples.
In lieu of flowers, Jay's family requests that donations be made to the IU Health Foundation in support of The Lung Transplant Program. This program is very dear to the family, as Jay received the gift of a new lung in 2016 which allowed her to have four extra amazing years with all who loved her.
