Mary Jane Vandalsen Franks

Mary Jane VanDalsen Franks, passed away December 21, 2014 at Bethany Pointe Health Campus, Anderson, Indiana.

She was born June 11, 1925, to Cloyd M. and Nellie A. VanDalsen and lived all her life in Anderson.

Mary Jane married Art Franks on September 10, 1945, in Anderson, and he preceded her in death on December 20, 2004. They always shared their story of meeting on a Greyhound Bus. She and Art took many trips, often with friends, to foreign countries and many trips to see family and friends, attending reunions around the country.

She is survived by daughter, Carol (husband, Butch) Hodson of Daleville; son Lee (wife, Patty) Franks, of Denver, CO; grandchildren, Laura (husband, Jeff) Vise, of Yorktown, Lisa Francum, of Daleville and Nick Franks, of Denver, CO; and great-grandchildren Jessica Francum, of Anderson, Emily and Blake Vise, of Yorktown, and Nathan and Marcus Franks, of Denver, CO.

She was a member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church, serving on several committees and helping where needed. She was a member of Anderson Chapter No. 154, Order of the Eastern Star and member of the American Business Women Association, Anderson Chapter.

She worked 30 years at Delco-Remy, retiring in 1983. After retirement, Mary Jane followed her desire to do tolle painting, and some free-hand paintings, which she shared with family and friends.

Funeral services will be 12 Noon, Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory with Pastor Dennis Zirkle officiating. Burial will follow at East Maplewood Cemetery.

Visitation will be 10-12 Noon Saturday, January 3, 2015 at the funeral home.
