Mary Jane Busing

After a lengthy illness, Mary “Jane” Busing, 93, of Anderson, died peacefully on June 8, 2020. She was born in Fort Branch, Indiana on May 20, 1927, the youngest child of the late Oscar and Theresa (Greubel) Emge. Jane graduated from Indiana University School of Nursing in 1952. She worked as a registered nurse at IU Indianapolis, St. Joseph Hospital in Denver, Colorado and Gibson General Hospital in Princeton, Indiana, where she met the love of her life, Robert Busing. Jane and Bob were married on February 19, 1955 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Fort Branch. Shortly after, they moved to Anderson and raised their family. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and volunteered with Victoria Guild at St. John Hospital for many years. She enjoyed fishing, gardening and watching basketball games with Bob. Jane is survived by her children, Barbara (Dr. Wayne) White of Connersville, Kathleen (Thomas) Barnett of Carmel, Dr. Gregory Busing (Jacquie Etchison) of McCordsville, Dr. Michael Busing (Jake Harris) of Rockingham, Virginia; grandchildren Daniel (Melissa) Barnett, Stephanie (Robby) Coleman, Lauren (Andrew) Oklak, Christina (Roberto) Martell, Kevin (Ashley) Barnett, Courtney (Marcus) Saur, Rachel Busing (Thomas Rusnak), Gabriella (Kevin) Bolger and Robert White (Madison Komdeur); six great-grandchildren plus one on the way in the fall. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bob, granddaughter Katherine White, a special cousin and life-long friend, Eileen Elpers Carter, and her siblings and their spouses Edward (Margery) Emge, Mildred (John) Chaille, Walter (Bess) Emge and Barbara (Frederick) Bender. A private Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary Catholic Church followed by burial in East Maplewood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church, 1115 Pearl Street, Anderson, IN 46013. Arrangements are entrusted to Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory.
