Mary Eileen Burris, 94, Fishersburg, passed away Tuesday, November 6, 2012, at Sheridan Rehabilitation and Healthcare. She was born on May 29, 1918, in Hamilton County, Indiana to Isom and Opal (Crull) Teeters. She graduated from Lapel High School in 1935. Eileen retired in 1978 from the former Delco Remy Division of General Motors in Anderson after 30 years of employment and had volunteered at Hephzibah Children's Home in Macon, GA for fourteen years following her retirement. She was a member of the Lone Oak Wesleyan Church and had also been a member of the Fishersburg Wesleyan Church for several years. She faithfully served her Lord both in church and in the community. Eileen loved spending time with her family and loved to have her grandchildren stay with her. She was an accomplished seamstress and made quilts for each grandchild. She is survived by eight grandchildren, Cindy (husband, Jeff) Wehner of Fishers; Mike Burris of Encino, CA, Doug (wife, Brenda) Banning of Sheridan, Lisa France of Anderson, Tom (wife, Cindy) Burris of Fishersburg, Amanda (husband, Greg) Mills of Noblesville, Andy (wife, Lisa) Banning of Noblesville, and Jennifer (husband, Richard) Brown of Noblesville; one brother, Herschel Teeters of Lapel, three daughters-in-law, Nancy Burris of Lapel, Jayne Burris Seybert of Noblesville, and Pam Burris of Monticello,KY; seventeen great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Emma Teeters of Noblesville; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Burris; three children, Charles Eugene "Gene" Burris, Terry Burris, and Nancy Sue Banning; a brother, Charles Teeters; and a sister, Alice Tilden. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon Friday, November 9, 2012, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev. Jerry Snyder officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Lapel. Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon Friday, November 9, 2012, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions may be made to Hephzibah Children's Home, 6601 Zebulon Road, Macon, Georgia 31220-7606 or the American Heart Association.
