Mary E. Davis, 92, of Greenfield, passed away Friday, August 17, 2018, at Hancock Regional Hospital. She was born May 10, 1926, in Kennard to the late, Paul Edison & Elva Lucille (Jarvis) Newby. Mary was a 1944 graduate of Washington High School in Indianapolis. She and her husband, Donald, owned and operated Davis Chrysler & Plymouth of Knightstown. Mary was a very active part of her community having been a member of Henry County Art Association, Belmont County, Ohio Genealogy Society, Indiana & Henry County Historical Societies, and charter member of the Kennard Historical Society. She was also active with the Order of The Eastern Star, having served as Past Matron of the Greensboro Chapter, member of Shirley O.E.S., Past District Deputy District 12, and former Grand Representative. Mary had also been a former Guild Board Member of Hancock Regional Hospital. Along with her many community activities, she had also found time to paint, sew, needlework, and authored several articles, in two publications, titled, Kennard, My Hometown. She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn (husband, Bob) Kellams; grandchildren, Julie (husband, Brian) Allee, Christi Kennedy Duncan, and Casey (wife, Kelly) Kellams; six great grandchildren, Lindsey, Josh, Ana, Noah, Sebastian, & Bridget; one great-great grandchild, Camdyn; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald R. Davis; siblings, Maurice Eugene Newby, Barbara Jean Newby, and Anna Verlie Loftus. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, August 24, at Condo & St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Wilkinson. Burial will be at Glen Cove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, Masonic Home Foundation, or the Hancock Regional Hospital Foundation.
