Mary Ann Nivens, 72, Anderson, passed away September 11, 2017, at Keystone Woods after a brief illness. She was born May 23, 1945, in Anderson, the daughter of the late Leo F. and Julia Veronica Michael. She attended St. Mary’s Catholic Schools, St. Anthony School of Nursing in Terre Haute and University of St. Francis in Jolliet, Il. Mary Ann was a nurse at St. Johns Hospital for 26 years and Community Hospital for 12 years and was a past member of the Indiana Nurses Association. She was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church working with RCIA, Eucharistic Ministry, Choir, Circle of Care Ministry and Prison Ministry. Mary Ann was a member of the Daughters of Isabelle, St. Vincent de Paul, an Athena Award Nominee and received the Shining Star Award. She is survived by her two children, Christina (husband, Joseph) Robinson of Ft. Wayne and Kenneth (wife, Bonnie) Nivens of Anderson; two grandchildren, Kenny (wife, Julie) Nivens and Alicia Robinson; four step-grandchildren, Kyle Robinson, Jake Robinson, Jeffrey Eddy, II and Jordan Eddy; one step great grandchild, Jonathon Robinson; one brother and two sisters, Thomas (wife, Lorena) Michael of El Paso, TX, Patricia (husband, James) Beaman of Marion and Julie (husband, Skip) Davis of Greenwood. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1985, Kenneth Nivens and a brother, John Michael. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:00 P.M. Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Robert Williams officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Friends may call 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory with a vigil service at 7:30 PM. The Nurses Honor Guard will be participating with services. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul or Charity of donor’s choice .
