Mary A. McDole, 89, life-long Lapel resident, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Friday, February 26, 2010, at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville following an extended illness.
She was born on June 15, 1920, in Hamilton County, Indiana to Earl and Mary (Winkle) Purkey.
Mary retired in 1982 from Community Hospital in Anderson.
She was a member of the Lone Oak Wesleyan Church in rural Anderson
She is survived by four sons, Donald McDole of Fortville, Fred McDole of Noblesville, Troy (wife, Kay) McDole of Anderson, and Randal "Rod" McDole (companion, Cindy Murray) of Lapel; three daughters, Treva Evans of Noblesville, Jane (husband, Mark) Bland of Lapel, and Kathy (husband, Carl) Flatford of Luttrell, TN; one sister, Betty Camp of Noblesville; twenty-seven grandchildren; fifty great-grandchildren; eighteen great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fred McDole whom she married April 4, 1936 in Shelbyville; four sons, Dennis "Tub", Gary, Lawrence "Cracker", and Ted McDole; a daughter-in-law, Doris McDole; two grandsons, Lawrence "Larry" and Ronald "Boog" McDole; two brothers, William and John Purkey; and two sisters, Minnie Zook and Dorothy Moore.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to her caregivers, daughter, Treva Evans, granddaughter and husband, Robin and Chris Soverns and son, Freddie McDole.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev.s Jerry Snyder and Bill Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Lapel.
Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm Monday, March 1, 2010, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel.
