Marvin K. Swinford, passed away Thursday, June 17, 2021, with loved ones by his side. He was born August 26, 1932, to Kenneth & Esther (Tooley) Swinford. He was a 1950 graduate of Anderson High School. Marvin retired from Delco-Remy after 44 years of service. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Briareus from 1951-55. He loved antiquing, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. He was a selfless father, husband, grandfather, and friend. He showed his love with endless affection and his constant presence in their lives. His personality was one of a kind and to know him, was to love him. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Jane (Renforth) Swinford; daughters, Verlinda Gwynn, Sheila (husband, Tim) Smart; son, David Swinford; grandsons, Bryon (wife, Michelle) Gwynn, Brandon (fiancé, Julie) Smart, Kyle (wife, Tonya) Gwynn, Kurtis Smart; granddaughter, Krista (fiancé, Keith) Swinford; great grandchildren, Brandon, Matthew, Kevyn, Jaysen, & Kasen; brother, Jerry Swinford; several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Mike Gwynn; sisters, Maxine Barkdull, Katie Marshall, & Alice Osselaer; and brother, Kenneth “Elbert” Swinford, Jr. Services will be at 2:00 pm Tuesday, June 22, at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory, officiated by Neal Brown. Burial will be in Huntsville Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until time of services at the funeral home.
