Martha L. Carmichael

March 24, 1924 — July 20, 2016

Martha L. Carmichael, 92, Anderson, passed away July 20, 2016 at her residence after an extended illness.

She was born March 24, 1924, in Anderson, the daughter of the late Joe and Amy Radabaugh.. She lived in Anderson most all of her life and at one time owned and operated the Knuckles & Carmichael Funeral Home along with her husband. She retired after many years working at the Madison County Government Center. Martha was a long time member of the Central Christian Church and enjoyed eating at the Toast Restaurant after church; she was an avid Anderson Indian’s Basketball fan and a long time Democratic who was loved by many Republicans. She was very kind and generous to her family, friends and many charities including the Gruenewald House.

The family would like to thank St. Vincent Hospice, Countryside Manor, The Cancer Center and all of her care givers for the loving care they gave her.

Martha is survived by one nephew and family, Martin (Laronda) Petersen, Nickolas, Joseph and Johnathan Petersen; one niece and family, LeeAnn (Bob) Barry and Chandra Barry; a cousin, Pamela Lanane; longtime dear friends, Millie Hall and Jean Hummer; her special friend and right arm, Mary Singleton; special friends, Ron and Pam Richardson and all her friends and neighbors at Crown Pointe.

She was preceded in death by her husband and son, Cecil C. “Pete” Carmichael and Cecil C. “Pete” Carmichael, III.

Service will be at 11:00 A.M. Monday, July 25, 2016, at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory with Gary Schuster officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
