PENDLETON- Martha Ann (Woodruff) Burke, 83, passed away November 29, 2019 at St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital in Anderson. She was born October 26, 1936 in Anderson, Indiana and was a lifelong Pendleton resident. Martha married Gordon E. Burke on August 1, 1954 and they celebrated 59 years of marriage until his passing on July 1, 2014. She was a homemaker and farm wife the majority of her life.Martha was a 1954 graduate of Pendleton High School where she was active in home economics; 10 year member of 4-H; member of Pendleton Chapter No. 138 Order of the Eastern Star and had served as an advisor for Pendleton Job’s Daughters; and member of Indiana Farm Bureau. She was a lifelong member of Whetstone Christian Church.Survivors include her son, Kevin (Sarah) Burke of Pendleton; daughters, Rochelle (Terry) Helderman of Paris, Illinois and Roletta (Matthew) Pape of West Terre Haute; nine grandchildren, Nathan (Brittany) Burke of Wilkinson, Nicholas (Brittany) Burke of Indianapolis, Jared Burke of Pendleton, Terra (Matthew) Deakins of Brazil, Sierra Helderman of Paris, Illinois, Kyle (fiancé, Brittany Morris) Helderman of Paris, Illinois, Traven Pape, Briston Pape and Bryland Pape all of West Terre Haute; four great grandchildren, Maverick, Rockston and Moxley Burke of Wilkinson and Mallory Deakins of Brazil; several nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Karen (Denny) Gooding of Anderson and Frances (Dennis) Sizelove of Alexandria.She was preceded in death by her husband; parents, Ray Ottis “Woody” and Ruth V. (Ehrhart) Woodruff; father and mother-in-law, Gerald E. and Mary A. (Anderson) Burke; and brother-in-law, Lewis E. Burke.Services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, December 6, 2019 at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, Lahm Chapel, 211 E. State St., Pendleton, Indiana 46064 with Reverend Paul Bishop officiating. Burial will follow in Huntsville Cemetery.Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, December 5, 2019 at Lahm Chapel, Pendleton.In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Pendleton Heights High School, FFA Chapter, One Arabian Drive, Pendleton, IN 46064; Pendleton 4-H Livestock Booster Club, c/o Mike Smith, 7137 W. 675 S., Pendleton, IN 46064; or Riley Hospital for Children- Dept. of Pediatric Cardiology, 705 Riley Hospital Drive, Indianapolis, IN 46202.
