Mark David Maddy

Mark David Maddy passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 3, 2021. He was born in Greensburg, Indiana, on February 22, 1962, and graduated from Tri-West High School in 1980.
He held a Bachelor of Science in Music & Psychology, a Master of Education in Guidance and Counseling, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Change.
At the time of his death, he worked as a tenured professor at the University of Central Oklahoma where he taught teacher education candidates. He had 27 years of experience teaching in a variety of public education settings, working with students from age 3 to 73. He was a certified Dream Builder Life Coach and had developed curriculum based on his dissertation on maximizing potential.
Most of all, Mark was a survivor. In late August 1982, as a junior in college, he suffered a spinal cord injury which left him paralyzed from the chest down. He spent the better part of the next 10 months in hospitals and rehabilitation centers. He returned to his undergraduate studies in August 1983 and graduated in 1985. He had other physical setbacks, yet despite the odds, was an optimistic and upbeat individual who inspired and touched everyone in his life. A graveside service will be held at Mechanicsburg Cemetery in Middletown, Indiana on Saturday, July 10 at noon. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to the University of Central Oklahoma where a scholarship will be established in Marks name.
He is survived by his sister Faith Diane Maddy, brother Brian Lee Maddy (Krystin), niece Kaylee Davis-Maddy (Sam Washburn), nephew Ethan Brian Maddy, and great-niece Eleanora Maddy-Washburn. He was preceded in death by his parents Forest and Joan Maddy.
Hersberger-Bozell Funeral Home has been entrusted to the services for Mark.
