Mark A. Sharp

Mark A. Sharp, 76, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 29, 2020 after a long battle with COPD and other chronic illnesses. The Lord took Mark under the right circumstances and time. With Mark’s passing the world lost a unique character. He could fill up a room. He was jovial, friendly and loved to joke with people. Mark was extremely outgoing. He loved to meet new people and to share stories. He especially loved a good conversation about current events or to reminisce about racing and basketball. He was born August 2, 1943, in Anderson to the late William R. “Bob” & Eleanor (Fulwider) Sharp. Mark graduated from Madison Heights in 1961. God blessed Mark with the ability to use his hands. He loved cars! He enjoyed driving them and working on them. Throughout most of his life, his friendships and career focused on the automotive and transportation industry. He worked as a transportation specialist and entrepreneur. Mark is survived by his children, Corey (wife, Beth) Sharp & Julie A. Sharp; sister, Christine “Christy” (husband, Ken) Nottingham; Grandson Kyle DeWees and a niece and a nephew. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Sharp; parents; sister, Judith Brown, grandson Nathan Sharp and his beloved dog and companion Buddy. Mark and Carolyn were married for 49 years. They sacrificed for each other and for their children. Mark lived most of his life in either Anderson or Flora, IN where he had many lifelong friends and adventurous stories. Recently he lived in Yorktown, IN and Keystone Woods Assisted Living. Wherever he landed he met new friends and built relationships. The Sharp family would like to extend gratitude and thanks to the Hillcrest Drive Neighborhood Association and the staff and residents at Keystone Woods for their love and support of Mark. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:15 p.m. Friday, June 26 at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory, with visitation from 1:30 pm until services.
