Marjorie L. Sylvester

Marjorie L. (Massey) Sylvester, 85, Anderson, passed away August 21, 2014, at Community Hospital of Anderson after an extended illness.

She was born May 15, 1929, in Anderson, the daughter of the late Sierrel and Ruth (Moore) Massey. She lived in the Anderson and Lapel area all her life and was a 1947 graduate of Lapel High School. Marjorie had work at one time for Universal Electric, Ed Massey Auto, Dorothy May Dress Shop and was Secretary of Gene Sylvester Heating & Cooling Co. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the Women’s Church Group and Eastern Star of Lapel and of the Anderson Altrusa Club. She was an avid gardener and loved spending time in her flower garden.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Julius Eugene “Gene” Sylvester of Anderson: two children, Gary Eugene (Laura) Sylvester of Anderson and Debra (Sylvester) (Gary) Ebert of Pewaukee, WI; four grandchildren, Julia (Charles) Kopsea, Jennifer (Jeremiah) Salzman all of WI, Corey (Amanda) Sylvester and Kylie (Justin) Kruse all Noblesville; four great grandchildren, Zachary Kopsea, Nathan Kopsea, Brooklynn Salzman and Teagan Salzman; nieces and nephews, Brian (Alicia) Bays, Alan (Kelli) Bays, Connie (Jim) Millikan and Nancy (Jerry) Pitcock; one brother-in-law, Justin Bays. Also surviving are several great and great-great nieces and nephews and her faithful companion, her dog Missie.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Willa Rose Bays; two nieces, Sylvia Bays Reeder and Vickie Bays Boone.

Service will be at 10:00 A.M. Monday, August 25, 2014, at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Barton officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. on Sunday at the funeral home.
