Marjorie Helen Howell

Marjorie Helen Howell, 82, Lapel, passed away Monday, June 10, 2013, at Rawlins House in Pendleton following a brief illness. She was born on March 11, 1931, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Freeman and Leona (Skelly) Bless. Marjorie retired in 1983 from the former Delco Remy division of General Motors in Anderson after 30 years of employment. She was a member of the Ford Street United Methodist Church where she served on many committees and positions, the Lapel American War Mothers, and the Prairie Farmerettes. She had an extensive doll collection and was always there to help friends when they were in need. She is survived by five children, Marsha (husband, Garry) Scherer of Lapel, Hobie (wife, Michelle) Ballard of Mitchell, Terry (husband, Ray) Brooks of Alexandria, Linda (husband, Don) Bane of Noblesville, and Stanley Howell, II of Alabama; eight grandchildren, Tarra Scherer (Shane Kernodle), Mike (wife, Stephanie) Bagley, Tia (husband, Paul) Vondersaar, Desiree (husband, Kyle) Morse, Jesse Howell, Toby Howell, Darcey Howell, and Holly Howell; nine great-grandchildren, Chyanna, Brady, Caleb, Chelsey, Cooper, Phoenix, Taber, Traven, and Shyenne; and one great-great-granddaughter, Haiden. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Stanley Howell; and a grandson, Doug Scherer. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, June 14, 2013, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Rev. Neal Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Lapel. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday, June 13, 2013, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Lapel American War Mothers.
