Marilyn L. (Gwaltney) McKelvey, age 86, of Anderson, went home to be with the Lord on December 22, 2016 after a brief illness. Marilyn was born on July 26, 1930 in Anderson to the late Prince and Thelma Gwaltney and lived in Anderson all of her life. Marilyn was a graduate of Anderson High School, Class of 1949 and attended Ball State College. She retired from Delco Remy after 30 years of service. Her retirement years were spent with family and friends. Marilyn enjoyed getting together with her Delco breakfast ladies and the Anderson High School Class of 1949 girls and guys for lunch. Marilyn also looked forward to being with her church “family” at Solid Rock Baptist Church. Marilyn was an avid reader and had an extensive collection of Reader Digest books. She was also a professional movie buff and could recall movies and actors from most all old movies. Marilyn leaves behing her daughter, Marianne Lintner Oldham, husband Charles; one grandson, Matthew D. Lintner, wife Summer; and four great grandchildren, Cameron, Taylor, Evan and Quintin; two brothers, James (Laura Lee) Gwaltney and Donald (Ginny) Gwaltney; and one sister, Ellen Bales; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. Her extended family, Mike Oldham, Greg (Dinah) Oldham, Steve (Terri) Oldham and Beth and Hootie Greer and their families. Also her special friend, Nancy Hedgecraft and lifelong friend, Monna Cook. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, David Gwaltney and William Gwaltney; her son in law, Stan Lintner; and her husband, V. Gerald (Jerry) McKelvey whom she married in 1954. Marilyn’s family would like to thank Hospice Care, especially Joanne and Vickie for their excellent care of Marilyn. Services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 27, at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory with Pastor Bob Hargis and Pastor Ken King officiating. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery. Visitation will be 11:00-1:00 Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Solid Rock Baptist Church Building Fund.
