Marilyn J. Butcher

November 2, 1931 — July 2, 2018

Marilyn J. Butcher, 86, passed away Monday, July 2, 2018 following a brief illness. She was born November 2, 1931, in Grant City the daughter of Charles and Bonnie (Beeson) Orr and lived in the area her entire life. Marilyn and her late husband, Jerry, were co-owners of the Butcher Funeral Home in Knightstown. Together they wintered in Punta Gorda, Florida for several years. She loved to eat but not cook, gardening, bingo, fishing and root beer and Twinkies. Through her great-grandchildren she developed an appreciation for 4-H, especially watching them show their animals at the 4-H Fair. She loved spending time with her family and visiting with friends. Marilyn is survived by her son, Tony Butcher of Lexington, KY; grandchildren, Clint (Amber) Butcher of Carthage, Amber Gorth Sullivan of New Palestine, Kerri (Andy) Butcher Shreve of Jasonville, Matt (Katie) Butcher of MN, Andy (Christina) Butcher of Chicago and Patrick Butcher of MN; great-grandchildren, Drew Shreve, Austin Butcher, Carter Gorth, Bailey Butcher, Audrey Wooldridge-Jacobi, Abigail Shreve, Stella Sullivan, Charlie Butcher, Lauralie Butcher, Leo Butcher and Liam Butcher; two great-great-grandchildren; nephew Larry (Barbara) Langford of New Castle; and several other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Charles Michael Butcher and sister, Margaret Langford. Visitation will be from 12-2 p.m. Friday at Condo & St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory, Wilkinson. Private interment in Glen Cove Cemetery will take place later.
