Marian Lucille Raver

Marian Lucille Raver, 96, of Anderson, IN passed away on January 4, 2024, surrounded by her family. Marian was born on July 18, 1927, in Enochsburg, Indiana to the late Lawrence and Rose (Volk) Geis. Growing up, she worked on her family’s farm, which was adjacent to the Hillenbrand Summer Camp, where she was employed. She attended and graduated from New Point High School in 1945. After high school, she attended St. Vincent School of Nursing in Indianapolis and graduated in 1948. On August 11, 1951, she married Louis J. Raver, and they shared their life together for 53 years until his death in 2004. Marian found her spiritual home at St Mary’s Catholic Church and was a faithful member for many years. She was part of the St. Mary’s Church Choir, the Daughters of Isabella, and an Eucharistic Minister. Marian was a member of the Evening Tide Home Ec Club (Purdue Extension) and the Madison County Music Makers Vocal Group. During her career as an RN, she worked at the Veterans Hospital in Indianapolis, Ascension Health Children’s Clinic, St. Mary’s Catholic School, and the Rolling Hills Convalescent Center.

Marian enjoyed crocheting and making rosaries for the missions, like her father used to do. She was an excellent cook and made 500,000+ meals for her family. Marian played the Mandolin in a band called “The Rhythm Pals.” Her joy in life was her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Marian will be dearly missed by her children, Diana (Ken) Huff of Canton, GA, Sandra (Joe) Bishop of Fort Wayne, IN, Steve (Connie) Raver of Plainfield, IN, Susan Raver of Indianapolis, IN, Bernard (Tomasa) Raver of Royal Palm Beach, FL, and Allen (Theresa) Raver of Anderson, IN; son-in-law, Todd Fruehling of Kendallville, IN; brothers, John Geis of Greensburg, IN and Albert Geis of Batesville, IN.

Grandchildren, Eric (Zrinka) Huff, Brian (Louisa) Huff, Joel (Stephanie) Huff, Megan Fruehling, Virginia (Matthew) Rowan, Caroline (Karl) Otte, Forrest (Sarah) Bishop, Chris (Courtney) Bishop, Mary Raver, Nancy (Erick) Miles, Adam (Katy) Raver, Tony (Jake) Brindley, Joseph Anthony Raver, and Carissa Marie Raver.

Great-grandchildren, Tim Rowan, Xavier Rowan, Beckett Rowan, Kinsley Rowan, Maria Otte, Will Otte, Anna Otte, Jessica Otte, Coleman Bishop, Elon Bishop, Eliza Bishop, Leena Bishop, Sterling Bishop, Madeline Miles, Michael Miles, James Raver, and Peyton Raver.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Louis J. Raver; daughter, Janet Fruehling; brothers, Paul Geis, Anthony Geis, and Francis Geis; and sister, Rita Ambrose.

The visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service, 515 E. 53rd St., Anderson, IN 46013. There will be rosary devotion at 7:30 PM on Wednesday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM, Thursday, January 11, 2024, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 1115 Pearl St., Anderson, IN 46016. There will be a graveside ceremony at 3:30 PM on Thursday at St. Catherine of Sienna Church Cemetery, 9995 East Base Road, Greensburg, IN 47240.
