Marge I. Harvey March 1, 1921 – March 22, 2017 Marge Harvey, 96, formerly of Anderson who resided in Dacula, GA for the last four years quietly slipped away to her eternal home on Wednesday, March 22nd. She was born in Sabetha, KS, on March 1, 1921, to Omer and Alma (Brammer) Porter. During her high school years, the family was forced to leave the perils of farming in KS and moved to Knightstown IN to start a new life. She graduated from Knightstown High School in 1939 and later married Daniel C. Harvey whom she met at Delco Remy. She lived most of her life in Anderson following a variety of career paths. Although her first job was with Eavey’s Bakery, she also enjoyed work with the IRS in Indianapolis, Anderson Savings and Loan, and retired in 1991 from Anderson Community Schools handling payroll and medical insurance for ACS teachers and staff. During that same time, she and her husband owned and operated the G-2 Café in Knightstown. Following retirement, she began a new 20 year career with Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home as their greeter and after care provider. She is survived by daughter, Sherry (Raymond) Gustin and “adopted” granddaughter, Julie Gustin, all in Dacula, GA; son, Tom (Cindy) Harvey of Pendleton; grandson, Jay (Shelley) Harvey and three great-grandchildren: Dallas, Delaney and Danner Harvey all living in Pendleton; sister, Corky (Bill) Mitchell of Anderson and many precious nieces and nephews who adored her. Survivors also include family members of step-children living on the West Coast. Marge was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers, one sister and three step-children. Marge was an extraordinary lady who was a member of Grace Baptist Church for 48 years. She will be remembered as a faithful wife, loving and caring Mother, a dedicated friend to her co-workers and church family and an exemplary example of what a Christian life is to be. A celebration of life service will be held at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory on Wednesday, March 29th at 1:00 p.m. with Jay Harvey and Raymond T. Gustin officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3-7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 28th at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Baptist Church or The Christian Center.
