Marci M. Garner

August 14, 1970 — June 2, 2014

Marci Marie Garner, 43, of Bonita Springs, Florida went to be with the Lord on June 2, after a courageous battle against cervical cancer. She was born on August 14, 1970, in Community Hospital in Anderson, Indiana. She graduated from Highland High School in 1988 and while in high school, she participated in volleyball and was on the 1987 All-Sectional team. Marci then went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in secondary English education from Purdue University in May 1994. She continued her education while teaching at Westfield Middle School and earned a Master's in education administration from Indiana Wesleyan University in April 2001. She went back to teach at her high school alma mater for two years, serving one year as the yearbook administrator, before the family moved to Florida. Once in Florida, she flourished as a teacher and mentor to many, traversing three different high schools in Collier County over five years. Her last stop was Barron Collier, where in 2012 she was nominated as a Golden Apple Teacher of Distinction, voted on by both administration and peers through vigorous in-class evaluations. Her interests were her children's legacy; leading others to a relationship with Christ; and NASCARGo Smoke #14!
