Malcolm D. Vaught, 89, Anderson, died Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at Saint Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital following a brief illness. He was born on June 24, 1924, in Dugger, Indiana to Con and Grace (Burris) Vaught. He was known for his good work ethic and generosity. He graduated from Dugger High School and was a U. S. Navy veteran of WWII. Malcolm retired from the former Guide Lamp division of General Motors in Anderson after 40 years of employment. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Helen Vaught; two sons, Michael (wife, Noraleen) Vaught and Phillip Vaught both of Anderson; three step-sons, Michael (wife, Tere) Gilmour of Pittsboro, Brent (wife, Lori) Gilmour of Englewood, CO, and Steve (wife, Pamela) Gilmour of Littleton, CO; six grandchildren, Tim and Tom Vaught, Todd and Brandi Vaught, Matthew and Aaron Vaught; four step-grandchildren, Mindy Gilmour, Rachel Hazeray, Natalie Gilmour, and Catherine Gilmour; several great-grandchildren; and his sons' mother, Phyllis Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Melba Dunder; and a son, Terry Vaught. A funeral service will be held at 7:00 pm Friday, May 16, 2014, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Pastor William Garver officiating. A graveside service with military honors will be held in Dugger Cemetery at 2:00 pm, Saturday, May 17, 2014. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm Friday, May 16, 2014, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel.
