M Valeda Woodward

M. Valeda Woodward, 95, Lapel, passed away Saturday, January 30, 2010, at her home following a brief illness.
She was born on September 14, 1914, in Hancock County, Indiana to Charles and Rosetta (Van Cleave) Bash.
She graduated from Westland High School in 1932 where she played the piano for the chorus where she also sang, and participated in many plays.
Valeda had been employed at the former Indiana Rayon Clothing Manufacturer in Greenfield (which manufactured military uniforms for WWII) as a supervisor of the cutting and sewing department. She also was a clerk at the former Fisher Brothers Furniture Store in Lapel. After retirement, she operated The Wagon Wheel Ceramic Shop in her home for several years where she taught customers to clean and paint ceramic pieces which she fired in her own kilns.
She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church for over 50 years; a 75 year member of the Order of Eastern Star; she had been a Girl Scout Leader; a long-time member of the Prairie Farmerettes Home Economics Club; a member of the Lapel Rural Garden Club; and she and her husband belonged to a amature radio camping group that traveled around Indiana.
She is survived by two children, Lynda (husband, Steve) Clark of Lapel, and Daryl (wife, Debora) Woodward of North Webster; five grandchildren, Beth Clark of Indianapolis, Annalisa (husband, Patrick) Price of Warsaw, Denise Woodward of North Webster, Stephen Clark, Jr. of Anderson, and Stan (wife, Julie) Clark of Lapel; seven great-grandchildren, Ayva and Turner Price, Nathan, Nolan, and Noah Clark, and Jessica and Dalton Clark; and dear ones, Eve (husband, Everett) Baker of Fort Wayne and their daughter, Julie (husband, Ryan) Ridge of Homer, AK.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, M. Lynn Woodward; four brothers, Cleo Bash, Thomas Bash, Kenneth Bash, and John Bash; and one sister, Mary Kyser.
Funeral service will be held at 11:30 am Wednesday, February 3, 2010, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Pastor Doug Barton officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery, Lapel.
Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00pm to 8:00 pm Tuesday, February 2, 2010, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel.
