M. Delores Jones

Delores Jones, 80, of Anderson, passed away, September 27, 2016, at St Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital. She was born June 20, 1936, in Jeffersonville, the daughter of the late Warren and Eula (Pearson) Keith and always felt blessed to have such wonderful parents. When she was six months old, due to the Ohio River flood of 1937, her family moved to Anderson. She graduated from Anderson High School in 1954 and moved to Middletown. She had an off the wall sense of humor and could always make her family laugh because they never knew what she was going to say or do. She loved people and was always ready to help anyone in need. She gave of her time freely, especially if had to do with kids or dogs. In Middletown she owned and operated the Oak Tree, a family clothing store. A place where people would stop in to have fun and see what was going on. Delores also had a ladies boutique in New Castle. After closing the store she went to work for Transamerica Optical as a sales representative, traveling the state. She loved to travel and was always ready when a family member or friend said “let’s go”. She was a great dancer and enjoyed many night on the dance floor with her husband. She had been a member of the Eagles, Moose, and Elks Lodges, the American Legion and Meadowbrook Baptist Church. She is survived by her wonderful children; Randy (Tina) Webb, of Elkhart, Carrie Clark of Anderson, Jeremy Rogers of Middletown; stepchildren, Kim Jones, Christy Jones, Jeremy (Cassie) Jones all of Anderson; grandchildren that she dearly loved, Casey Clark and Jeremy Keith II; 7 step-grandchildren and several step-great grandchildren; and her brother, Morris (Roweana) Keith of Florida. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Griffith “Bob” Jones; sisters, Armatha Mandy (Bud) Ray and Lynn (Bill) Kline; a brother, Alvin Lee Keith, and many good friends. Services will be 1 pm. Friday, October 7, at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory with Chaplin Scott Ellison officiating. Burial will follow at East Maplewood Cemetery. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warriors.
