Luther J. Hensley

Luther J. Hensley, 88, Lapel, passed away Monday, February 24, 2020, at Sugar Fork Crossing in Anderson following a brief illness.He was born on July 15, 1931, in Perkinsville to Boyd Hensley and Nora (Smith) Hensley.Luther attended Pendleton Schools. He was involved in FFA; he was also a long time member of the Lapel Lions Club. He retired from Delco Remy, division of General Motors, after 35 years. He previously farmed, worked at Yanceys Meat Market in Pendleton, and Brockway Glass. Luther also owned and operated his own maintenance business for Shell gas stations.Luther enjoyed woodworking, fishing, working on cars and loved the outdoors. He is survived by his son, Eric (Vickie) Hensley of Anderson; daughters, Cheryl Hensley, and Christina Brooks both of Pendleton; grandchildren, Terry Hensley, Jaime Hensley, Jordan Haymaker; great-grandchildren, Ashley, Chance, and Madison; great-great-grandchildren, Jordan and Jackson; siblings, Naomi Manlove, Rebecca Warstler, Patsy Kern, and Marcia Niccum. He was also survived by many nieces and nephews. Luther was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Barbara Hensley, son, Greg Hensley; siblings, Cleonia Harless, Kenny Hensley, and Betty Knotts.A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 29, 2020, at Hersberger-Bozell Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel, Indiana with Pastor Glenn Knepp officiating. Burial will follow in Brookside Cemetery.Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Animal Protection League.
