Lois Oster Laughlin

Lois Oster Laughlin, 88, Anderson died peacefully surrounded by her family on November 29th, 2015

She was born March 23rd, 1927, in Lakewood Ohio. In 1930 her parents moved to Anderson where she was raised and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1945. She then graduated International Business College in Ft. Wayne in 1947 and on September 3, 1949 she married her high school sweetheart, James Laughlin Sr.

Survivors include her two sons, Dr. James Jr. (wife, Catherine) of Bloomington, IN, Jeff (wife Leslie) of Hudson, OH and daughter Jean Chaille (husband Dr. Rick) of Anderson, IN. And grandchildren Bill Laughlin (wife Sylvia and son Liam) of Atlanta, GA; Charlie Laughlin (wife Jen and children Rice, Hadley, and Oliver) of Bloomington , IN; John Laughlin (wife Susan, children Johnny and Iris) of Bloomington, IN; Kelly Wolf (husband Martin, and children Charley, Mickey and Grace) of Cincinnati, OH, Megan Chaille Schlabach (husband Andy and children Calvin and Greta) of Indianapolis, IN; Matt Chaille (wife Erin and children Mya, Sam, Caroline, and Jonathan) of Ft. Wayne, IN; Tara Bouis (husband Sasha and daughter Fiona) St. Thomas, USVI, Jack Chaille (wife Sarah) of Columbus, IN; J.R Chaille of Anderson, IN; J.C. Laughlin (wife Abby) of Akron, OH; Parker, & Mikaela Laughlin of Hudson, OH, and step grandchildren Olivia and Sophia Puzzello of Bloomington, IN; and Christophe and Luc Jambon of Cleveland and Hudson, OH.

After college she worked as an executive secretary at Delco-Remy and Frigidaire. After marring Jim, they moved to Dayton, OH, and Rochester, NY before settling back in Anderson in 1964.

Active in the community she was a Cub Scout Den Mother, a Girl Scout Asst. Leader. She was also involved with Republican Women, Lady Elks, Sigma Phi Gamma Sorority, Anderson Historical Society, St. Mary’s Alumni Association, St. Mary’s Funeral Dinners, Crashaw Club, and the Victoria Guild of St. John’s Heath System.

Lois was foremost a devote wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. In her spare time she simply cherished time with her family and always had a loving smile on her face. She was a Roman Catholic and a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim, and her parents Clem & Eda (DeChant) Oster.

Lois lived her last days in the loving care of the professionals at Bethany Point in Anderson, IN. She appreciated the love and support she received from the staff.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, December 2, 2015, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 2801 Lincoln St. Anderson, IN with Monsignor Robert Sell officiating. Burial will be in East Maplewood Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Ambrose Catholic Church or to St. Vincent Anderson Regional Health, 2015 Jackson St., Anderson, IN 46016.
