Former Perkinsville resident, Lois Ann (Russell) Michael Stopher, 69, Pleasant, passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2012, at University of Cincinnati Hospital in Cincinnati. She was born on February 13, 1943, in Anderson, Indiana to Herbert and Helen (McCord) Russell. She graduated from Madison Heights High School in 1961. Lois had worked for 27 years at the former Brookside Corporation in McCordsville and had more recently been employed at the Grand Victoria Casino and Resort in Rising Sun. She enjoyed waitressing and socializing with her customers. Lois will be remembered for her love of her grandchildren, sewing, making crafts, painting and flea marketing. Lois was a loving wife, mother, sister, and aunt. She is survived by her husband, Charles Ray Stopher; three children, Lora Ann Lawson of Arcadia, Virgil Wayne Michael, Jr. of Canaan, and Mark Allen (wife, Anna) Michael of Elwood; four step-daughters, Mindy, Charlene, Dawn, and Susan; six grandchildren, Bobbi Jo, Farron, Jessie, Gus, Sammi, and Marley; four great-grandchildren, Savanna, Paxton, Aaron, and Liam; seven step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Judy Stanley of Anderson, and Janice Cox of Chattanooga, TN; a brother, Jim Russell of Norman, OK; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Virgil Wayne Michael; a grandson, Landon Lee Michael; and a brother, Herb Russell. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, August 25, 2012, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home in Lapel with Brother Mike Whiteman officiating. Burial will follow in Perkinsville Cemetery, Anderson. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm Friday, August 24, 2012, at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
