Levi A. Cox

Levi A. Cox, 80, Anderson, passed away September 16, 2015, at his residence after a sudden illness.

He was born August 1, 1935, in Sullivan, the son of the late Rev. Levi Cox and Viola (Scott) Cox. He lived in Anderson most all of his life and was a retired Auto Body Repairman. He loved to fish and was an avid NASCAR fan and won the Figure 8 Racing World Championship in 1965.

Levi is survived by his six children, Sherrell (Steve) Taylor, Victoria (Rick) Bowers, Linda (Larry) Cheatham, Levi A. “J.R.” (Julie) Cox, Joseph Christopher Cox, Michael S. (Kennette) Cox; grandchildren, Brittney Marshall, Stacy Hutchinson, Courtney Puckett, Chasity Shryock, Gary Noble, Jr., Krystal Loft, Daniel Noble, Levi Cox, III, Caleb Cox, Kelcy Cox and 27 great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Burl T. “Tom” (Debbie) Cox, Paul Cox, Gary L. (Penny) Cox, Timothy A. (Cindy) Cox, Patricia (Harold) Schuyler, Wanda Vaughn; also surviving are additional family, Scott Cox, Patty Wilson, Sandy Harmon and 23 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Harry Hemme, Jr.; one brother, Donald E. Cox; a sister-in-law, Nancy Cox and brother-in-law, Gene Vaughn.

Service will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Service & Crematory with Rev. David Waters officiating. Cremation will follow.

Friends many call from 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. on Saturday at the funeral home.

In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Madison County Literacy Association.
