Lester P. Burke

Lester P. Burke, 84, Lapel, passed away Sunday, November 11, 2012, at Community Hospital of Anderson following a brief illness. He was born on September 29, 1928, in Lapel, Indiana to Emory and Flo (Castor) Burke. Lester retired from the Indiana Reformatory at Pendleton. He was a member of the Solar Masonic Lodge in Anderson. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Becky (Webb) Burke; one daughter, Pam (husband, Keith) Benzenbauer of Anderson; two grandchildren, Casey (wife, Renee) Benzenbauer and Amy (Benzenbauer) Lacy (husband, Sim); one great-granddaughter, Abigail Benzenbauer; and a brother, Carroll Burke of Pendleton. He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Jay Burke, Kenneth Burke, and Jerry Burke. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, November 14, 2012, at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions may be made to Madison County Humane Society, 2219 Crystal Street, Anderson, Indiana 46012. The family would like to thank Community Hospice team, Autumn, April, and Hillary and the nursing staff on the fifth floor at Community Hospital for their kind care of Lester and their wonderful neighbors in Brookside addition.
