Lester Owen Metzger

Lester Owen Metzger, 96, Lapel, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at his home.
He was born on March 20, 1921, in Anderson to Owen and Minnie (Patrick) Metzger.
Lester was graduated from Lapel High School.
He retired from the former Best Ever Dairy in Anderson.
Lester was a member of the Old German Baptist Brethren Church.
He is survived by eight children, Bob (Susan) of Lapel, Wayne of Pendleton, Gerald (Kathy) of Noblesville, Marilyn (Eldon) Garber of Pendleton, Margaret (Roger) Garber of Chambersburg, PA, Patricia (Jesse) Riffey of Hillsboro, WI, John of Lapel, and Bill (Beth) of Lapel; one son-in-law Tom Richardson of Paoli; twenty-nine grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Mildred Garber; four sisters-in-law June Metzger, Essie Sides, Ina Sides, Eunice (Lester) Filbrun; and brother-in-law, Charles Yoder.
Lester was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 64 years, Hester (Sides); a daughter, Marillis Richardson; three great-grandchildren; sister Beulah (Clarence) Cook, brother, Bill (Gladys); and in-laws, Paul Garber, Lester (Martha and Jessie) Sides, Charlie Sides, Ruth (Lester Hollinger and Dorman Hudson), Florence (Emmett) Brubaker, Ethel (Merle) Jamison, Joe Sides, Oliver Sides, Walter (Billye and Jerry) Sides, Harley Sides, Phyllis Yoder.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Sunday at Old German Baptist Brethren Church, 600 West and 400 South, Anderson. Burial will follow in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Saturday at Scott E. Hersberger Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel.
