Lawrence “O’B” O’Brien, Jr, 88, passed away Friday, December 11, 2020. He was born in Summitville on July 27, 1932 the son of the late Lawrence and Bertha (Jones) O’Brien, Sr. He married the former Patricia Kirchenbauer on July 4, 1952 and together they raised their family. O’B enlisted in the Army and served in the Korean War, until the Armistance Agreement which was signed on his 21st birthday. He was an active member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion. He retired from Delco-Remy in 1985. Following retirement he and Patricia enjoyed spending summers at their cottage at Irish Lake. He enjoyed woodworking and leather working. In later years he was Patricia’s primary caregiver. O’B is survived by his children, Kathy (husband, Jeff) Muir, Rinde (wife, Patti) O’Brien, Karen O’Brien, and Kelly (husband, Paul) Greulich; grandchildren, Danielle, Tiana, Nicholas, Tyler, Joseph, & Hannah; and several great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and grandson, Matthew Muir. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, December 18, 2020 at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Gary Cable officiating. The family is requesting all guests wear masks and practice social distancing. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 5635 W 96th St, Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46278.
